Depending on the patient’s age, occupation, and degree of refractive error, laser surgery, phakic lens implantation, or phacorefractive surgery may be recommended.
Presbyopia / Dysfunctional Lens
I am over 40, what are my options?
We have trouble seeing things up close after the age of 40-45 because the eye’s natural lens no longer functions properly. Using a cell phone, tablet, or computer without glasses becomes increasingly challenging, and we must hold things at arm’s length to focus on them. Depending on the patient’s age, occupation, and degree of refractive error, laser surgery, phakic lens implantation, or phacorefractive surgery may be recommended.
In general, PresbyMax laser surgery can be performed on patients between the ages of 40 and 55 who have presbyopia. Around the age of 56, replacing the natural lens with a refractive lens to improve near vision may be considered. There is currently a wide range of intraocular lenses available, which are selected based on each patient’s individual characteristics. Come in for your evaluation, and Dr. Gaviria will make a recommendation.
Treatment options for Presbyopia:
Presby Max Laser
Corrects presbyopia with the Amaris laser. It allows for a very quick recovery in less than 24 hours. It is indicated for patients with presbyopia between 40 and 55 years of age who also have hyperopia, myopia, or astigmatism, provided the cornea is healthy and the criteria regarding pupil size and other factors are met. It is a very safe, painless surgery that takes only a few minutes.
EDOF and Multifocal Toric Intraocular Lenses
Toric lenses correct astigmatism, which is essential when presbyopia is also being corrected. They are indicated for patients with both conditions.
We carry out all these operations in the city of Ibagué.
